| MR ALAN CLIFTON |
EMAIL |
I am a housing officer employed by Boston Mayflower Ltd. In December 2007 I had the unfortunate duty to evict one of my tenants due to him having moved away and abandoned the property he was in. I tried every avenue to contact him but to no avail. The name of this person was Mr Anthony Ernest Thompson, born 13.01.1955.
During the course of clearing the property I came accross a painting entitled 'Broadway, Burma, 5th - 6th March, 1944, The Chindits, 1st Battalion, The Kings Regiment, (Liverpool)' signed by David Rowland, print number 39 out of 150. Detailed on the back is "Presented to KGN Kevin Thompson from CSGT Joe McLoughlin". History:
- 1964 - 1967 ACF
- 1969 - 1973 - Acoy 4 Para (Lpool) LCPL + LT
- 1974 - 1995 1 Kings
- 1975 - 1976 - NI (Lderry)
- 1976 - 1980 Colchester.
- 1977 - Cyprus / Canada.
- 1978 - Germany.
- 1979 - NI (Bfast)
- 1980 - Germany (Osnabruck)
- 1982 NI (Bfast) / Canada.
- 1983 - Canada.
- 1984 - NI (Bfast)
- 1985 - Chester / Kenya.
- 1987 - NI (West Tyrone)
- 1988 - Berlin.
- 1990 - NI Jcuni (Special Forces)
- 1991 - Instr Brecon (TAC Wing)
- 1993 - Hounslow / NI (Armagh)
- 1996 - Cyprus.
Best of luck Son - Joe Mac!
Basically I would think that this print has some monetary value but more sentimental value than anything. I suspect that Kevin Thompson may well be the son of our ex tenant, Anthony Thompson. I would like to be able to personally return it to him if he wants it and my request is, can you please check your records to try and trace him. If you can contact him and pass on to him my details as listed and tell him to contact, I will be more than happy to return this item to him.

The family of LCpl Doughty 1 KINGS 1937 |
Barbara Murphy
Email: barbymurphy@blueyonder.co.uk
My father George Howard served in the 1st Bn The Kings Regiment and the Chindits. I have his cups he won for sport but one of the cups is not his it reads as follows Dalhousie welter L/C Doughty 1937. I wondered whether you could point me in the right direction to finding his family as I am sure they would love to receive this cup he won. I can only assume they were good friends. My father's nickname was Bluey Howard. Unfortunately my dad died in 1971 but I do know that some-one from the army attended the cremation. It was the other day when I was polishing the small cup that I thought it was a shame it couldn't be with the family of LCpl Doughty. I don't know how dad came by it, maybe they swapped cups when they parted.
Some clues about my dad at some point in the KINGS he was a Corporal as I have a photo of him in uniform, he was in Abbassia Cairo in 1931 where he passed some exams and the Brigadier was G Brook. In 1945 he passed a cooks course. his army number was 3767531 India command. His wife's name was Lily and he had a brother Joseph who was also in the army.
Barbara I have omitted your mobile and land line numbers for your peace of mind. Contact by email is preferable until you know the people concerned.
