Comment: I was a member of the Greenjackes boxing team in the 60's and 70's. I was in both teams that boxed you in THE Army Team Championship Finals.  Beat you in Celle in 69. You beat us in Adershot the day the IRA blew the OFFICERS MESS up.  in 72 0r 73 I think.   We still went ahead that night just to show the terrorists.Anyway I would like to get in touch with any lads who remember or actually boxed.  I was one of two Scousers in the Greenjacket team.  In fact I was the Captain and got some stick.  After the match we had a real ball. It was cameraderie at its best.  In the first final I boxed and beat a Black lad called Randy Lewis.  In the second final I boxed a Manc lad called Les Larson.   He was a real nice kid. I beat him as well like.  THompson was boxing and Killivilliame.  Jimmy Doglay also boxed and I have heard that he was tragically killed in Northern Ireland.   I can't recall the name of the Sgt who ran the team but he was instrumental in the good cameraderie
that developed and existed for a long time between the two REgiments boxing wise anyway.   Any body who could furnish me with some info on the lads I mentioned or remembers those tournaments.  Please get in touch.

I am writing in the hope that there might be more information with regards to my late fathers connection with the Kings Own. He fought in Korea, Kenya and was stationed in Hong Kong as well. His name was Kenneth James Roberts and was from Liverpool. He was a Colour Sergeant. Sadly, he passed away in 1999. Many thanks.
